On Wednesday and Thursday Junior and Senior Infants went on a tour to Imaginosity, the children's museum in Sandyford.  The classes left very early in the morning and went in a double decker bus which they thought was very exciting.  In Imaginosity, the girls had great fun engaging in role play activities which included working in a restaurant, a supermarket, a post office, building a house, working on television and lots more.  Some of these activities they have experienced in Aistear already throughout the year but they also had the chance to try out lots of different activities too.  It was a great experience for all the children and the classes really enjoyed this tour.

Ms. Flynn's 3rd Class learned about the Life of Ancient Egyptians in January.  The children made fantastic displays and presented projects on topics of their choice.  The children also learned how to play an ancient board game called Senet which uses sticks instead of dice.  In addition,  the children painted Egyptian masks and made colourful head-dresses for them.  To finish off the children's learning of the topic, Senior classes were invited to partake in fun Ancient Egyptian activities in the classroom.  Some of these activities included playing Senet, making mummies and breaking a code using hieroglyphic symbols.  The children dressed up for the occasion and it was a very enjoyable afternoon.

As part of our Health Promoting Schools Programme, all classes are engaging in mindful activities.  Each term different classes will have meditation classes with Sally.  This term the Infant classes have their turn of meditation which they started on Wednesday.  The girls engaged in relaxation activities, focused on breathing and experienced being mindful before walking mindfully back to their classrooms.  The girls really enjoyed this experience and are looking forward to doing it again.  Some classes have even been walking mindfully to and from the hall since they leaned this skill from Sally!

EUROPEAN WEEK OF SPORT

During European Week of Sport in September all of the classes in the school came together in the yard to dance!  The children were led by some of the teachers as they all danced and performed to 'Gummy Bear', The Shimmy Shake' and 'Macrarena'.

Children from each of the classes took on the teachers in a penalty shoot-out. Noel, our care-taker, was goal-keeper and Ronnie, our GAA expert, was referee! The pupils managed to beat the teachers on the day with Ruby W from Ms. Devilly's class winning overall champion. Well done to all!
