On Thursday the 3rd of March, the girls in St. Brigid's celebrated World Book Day by dressing up as characters from their favourite books. There were some amazing costumes worn and many of the children even made their own costumes.  Some classes also brought in their favourite books to share with others. Other classes engaged in art activities and English lessons where they explored books further. It was a fun-filled day for all the classes.

There was great excitement in school this week with two very friendly community Gardaí visiting all the classes in St. Brigid's. The Gardaí talked to the girls about their job and what they do on a daily basis. The girls got the opportunity to ask lots of question and were really engaged during their visit. The highlight of the visit was getting to try on their special hat, hi vis jacket and using their walkie talkies and handcuffs.

The girls in Mrs. Delany’s Fifth Class have been engaging in the Junior Achievement Programme under the wonderful guidance of Ms. Megan Leonard from Expleo. Ltd.

Over the past five weeks they have engaged in various STEM activities and have thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Their favourite activity was to build a paper bridge that could hold a litre bottle of water and could fit an A4 book through it. Each group had a budget of €35,000 euro made up of 30 sheets of paper at €1,000 per sheet used and €5000 for each roll of sellotape used.

Many groups stayed well within budget, others overspent (using too much sellotape!) but most of the bridges passed the ultimate test. Well done, girls!
